How do you get control of laundry when I'm either, too busy, have a really big family, or simply don't have the time?
With a system, that's how! Here's the tops three ways.
Grouping, Labeling, and Efficiencies. Let me explain.....
I know that laundry is a pain, that seems never ending. Afterall, the minute you get it all done, there's still the clothes you're wearing. While most husbands would be game to try naked days (no, we didn't have to poll them to know their answer) it's not really a practical solution.
You can batch your laundry and spend the whole day, just a day, a week doing it. Then spend the next day putting it away. Or you can batch by person. Perhaps you want to group by type of clothes, such as towels or shirts and pants. This way you're only doing one thing at a time. Consider, location. Only wash items from certain locations at certain times.
Make this idea your own. This is about finding a system you can live with. It's okay to season it with a touch of denial if you need it. Whatever it takes to get the laundry finished, am I right?
This is what Suzanna does at her house. Since she wears the same size socks and type as her stepdaughter they use a marker and label the toes. No one sees the toes.... I'm here to tell you that this is genius. I've currently got a pile of mystery socks on my dresser that I'm wishing I'd labelled when I'd brought them into my house. I don't have the same shoe size as my kids, it's worse, they both wear the same as my husband. Who never has socks because teenagers are sock thieves... but I digress.
Checking the toes, or iron label to know who's is who's takes the guess work out of sorting.
You can start perhaps with smaller loads if this is what it's going to take to get you in the habit of doing it start to finish in one go. Add grouping by doing everything on the left side of you house, then tomorrow, the right.
Or perhaps you might sort before you wash. Then when the load comes out you can quickly deliver it to it's location.
Getting in the habit of folding it while it's hot is another little quirk you can start to make it a no brainer.
