Do you ever feel like you just aren’t getting enough done?
How do some people get more done in their day? Automation. Setting things in motion and letting modern life take over. Why it’s almost like having personal robots.
So let’s get started! The first thing you need to identify is where you’re getting hung up. What’s slowing you down? Are you unable to make healthy meals because you didn’t go grocery shopping?
Perhaps you’re getting slowed down in the mornings getting dressed. Is it because your clothes aren’t clean? Do you need different clothes for the life you’re living now? What’s the hold up?
Could it be your family needs you to make decisions for them?
In my life (As S.K.’s social media ninja/ professor of computer things) I discovered that my biggest hang ups were meals. I don’t want to stop what I’m doing to bother fixing food. I really don’t want to feed my whole family. I’d die for them but do I really have to cook for them every single day?
Suzanna mentions in the video that meals are an issue for her as well but her hang up is having groceries on hand. I cook everything from scratch because of food allergies and special diets (I know, we’re lucky folks). So while we both have food hang ups when it comes to being productive our solutions will be vastly different.
Identifying that I don’t want to be stopping to cook all the time had me sitting down to dinner with my family and explaining the issue. Our solution was I would precook the evening meals but my youngest, a very capable High School Senior, would pop it in the oven and serve it. I’ve only got one day of cooking now and he’s going to take over the rest. Which has proved to be wonderful. As a bonus, I’ve discovered my grocery budget goes further now.
Time and Money saved! Go me!
There’s more sites that do this but basically I’ve set up the ability to have things I don’t usually remember like Suzanna mentioned in the video, pet meds, batteries for the smoke alarm, razors, toilet paper, etc… set to come automatically.
For example the smoke alarm batteries I’ve included a note to myself so when the batteries arrive, I don’t have to remember what they are for. I would totally forget and my very helpful teens would help themselves to my batteries before I remembered.
As for toilet paper, razors, deodorant, these are items I was buying monthly without changing brands or paying attention to coupons. It’s like having a magic pantry to have these items automated.
I’ve automated some food items too but monthly was overkill. We use rotel constantly – those diced tomatoes are the best but monthly was too much. I get a flat twice a year now. Easy to adjust.
I haven’t used this yet but I’m planning on setting it up this weekend. I’ll let you know. It sounds genius! What the video to discover why. Here’s the Official Site for this app to learn MORE (but stay here until you finish pretty please)
Suzanna also mentions an all in one dashboard – it’s brilliant. Here’s the one she mentioned. Cyfe.com
If I was only allowed one bit of software for productivity this would be it. This is the motherload. But I should confess I actually use Google Spreadsheets which is the same thing but has the added benefit of being cloud based not computer based. This means I set up a family email with google and we all have access to it.
It’s a must. If you aren’t in love with it, you need to consider taking a class. I had to sign up at the local library for a course because what I figured out myself wasn’t awesome. Pro’s like Suzanna work Excel like it’s black magic. She’s a ninja. Look for a video tutorial soon – cause I’m going to pester her for one. Don’t tell…..
So….. What did you discover is your hold up? Where are you going to make changes? What will you be automating on Amazon. Do tell. Share in the comments here or over on our FB page. I’d love to hear what you’ve learned.
